Ownership in Thailand
Foreigners in Thailand generally have two options when it comes to owning land and building property.
The first option is Freehold ownership, which is reserved for Thai citizens. Foreigners can access this structure by setting up a Thai company to hold the land, which requires Thai partners, legal support, and ongoing tax and administrative obligations.
The second option is Leasehold, where foreigners lease the land with full usage rights guaranteed for a period of 30 years under Thai law.
This is the option we have chosen. It offers several advantages, most importantly security, as your personal name is registered on the land title for the full lease period of 30 years.
